The tree-lined village green has old thatched houses, and is dominated by the church of St. Mary the Virgin. Industries in Banham in the past have included the Gaymer Cider factory and brickmaking from the clay found around the area. The village has two shops (one with a Post Office), two pubs (the Banham Barrel and the Garden House) as well as an active Community Centre. The village is also home to Banham Zoo, an award-winning family attraction home to over 2000 animals.
